Saving images in Photoshop...

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SAVE, SAVE AS, AND SAVE FOR WEB
Save: This option saves the changes that you have made to the original image.
Save As: When you use Save As, you will save a copy of your original work and begin working on the new copy. Your original image remains as it was when you first opened it.
Save a Version:
You can check As a Copy in the Save As dialog box as well. When you use the Save a Version command, you save a copy of the file as it is at that moment, but
you’ll still be working on the original file, not the copy.
Save for Web & Devices:
You can optimize pictures for viewing on the web by
previewing your images in “web” form and making adjustments by specifically choosing different file types. Choose this if you want to save your GIF with a transparent background.
